2002: Earned the PHD in Social Systems and Public Policies’ Analysis at Sapienza University of Rome.

Since 2001: Assistant Professor in Political Science (SPS/04) at the Department of communication and social research, Sapienza University of Rome.

1992: Visiting Scholar for 12 months at Kiev State University “Taras Shevchenko”, Ukraine.

1991: Degree cum laude in Political Sciences at Istituto Universitario Orientale of Naples, with a thesis in Political Institutions of Eastern Europe.


                Prof. Emanuela C. Del Re

Emanuela C. Del Re is a sociologist, specialist in migrations and refugee issues, conflict studies, religious issues and minorities. Since 1991 she has carried out long field researched with participant observation in conflict areas (Balkans, Caucasus, Middle East). For her research projects on field in conflict areas, she has obtained grants from leading institutions in the world. She has earned the National Academic Qualification as Associate Professor (sector 14/C1-SPS/07) and is currently Tenured Researcher (SPS/11). She has lectured for years at the Fac. of Communication Sciences of the Univ. Sapienza of Rome, where she has also been Jean Monnet professor with a module on European Culture(s), Citizenship(s) and Governance funded by the European Commission (2007-2010). She has been Researcher at the  European University Institute (1997-2000). Research Fellow at Univ. Sapienza (2001-2003). In 2017 she has been elected  National Coordinator of the Section Sociology of Religion of the Italian Sociological Association (AIS) also creating the academic festival Mondoreligioni. She is the Founder and Honorary Chair of EPOS Intl. Agency, that carries out intervention projects since 2012 in conflict areas (Iraq, Jordan et al.) funded by the European Commission and others  for the reconstruction of the civil society. She is the director of Book-series Globolitical (area 14- SPS/11) at Aracne Publ., Rome. Member of Scientific Boards of various Italian and intl. Journals amongst which Religioni e Società (class  A). Stable collaborator and member of the editing board of the leading journal Limes. She is the regular contributor of many Italian and intl. scientific journals and is an elected member of leading Think Tanks and research Institutes in the world. She has realized documentaries: We, the last Christians of Iraq (2015); The denied Yazidi Festival. Voice and Future of the Yazidi (2014); My Future. With and for the Syrian Refugees (2014). Amongst her publications: Women and  Borders. Refugees, Migrants and Communities, (Tauris, 2018), with S. Shekhawat; Il comportamento collettivo. “Via con la pazza folla”: internet, ultras, terrorismo e oltre. (Rubbettino, 2012)
